About the Class
During this weekly 2-week class, Gord, our Winemaker and Stained Glass Artist in residence will teach you all the skills required to properly use the tools and materials needed to make your very own stained glass panel using lead came techniques. You will learn the entire process from start to finish and learn the skills to make your own lead came panels and windows.
Pre-requisites: In consideration of all students, this class requires that students have experience in cutting, grinding and soldering and are able to do these confidently and independently. The focus of the class will be teaching how to use lead came in a project.
Students must have access to cutting tools and a grinder to complete the cutting work started in the first class for the second week of instruction.
Project work is required outside of class.
Students will bring their own pattern or select from a number of patterns for their first panel/window project.
Week 1:
- Pattern selection
- Design Considerations for Lead Came work
- Cutting for lead came
- Blocking up your panel
* Students will complete the cutting of the project pattern pieces at home and bring them to the following week's class. Mid-week studio time can be arranged. Inquire regarding availability.
Week 2:
- Assembling and Fitting Came Panels.
- Soldering Came
- Weatherproofing and finishing
- Supporting your panel
- Students may or may not finish their piece by the end of the second class. They will have the knowledge to complete their work at home.
Instruction will include samples of in progress and completed panels.
As this is an intermediate class, class sizes are limited to 6-8 students.

– The class cost shown includes: expert instruction and the use of our studio tools.
– The class cost does not include the sheet glass or came extrusions required to make your panel/window. The approximate glass and came cost for one window hanging will be $50-$100 depending on the project size and the glass you select.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel 14 days before the class start date we will provide a full refund. Under 14 days we try and fill your spot and if we are successful a full refund will be provided. Unfortunately if we cannot fill your spot we cannot provide a refund.
